DPWH shows progress of the new Subic-Tipo tunnel

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), has recently given us a glimpse of the ongoing construction of a new tunnel that is part of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway and from the looks of it, it may be completed within or even ahead of schedule.

Build, Build, Build chairperson, Anna Mae Lamentillo, shared photos of the construction that is now at the very advanced stage. If everything goes well, the new tunnel will be completed within the next 12 months.

The project began last year as part of the Ph₱1.6-billion project to increase vehicle capacity of the Subic-Tipo highway, the gateway to the Subic Freeport Zone. This new tunnel, which runs parallel to the existing 200-meter tunnel, will also complement the widening of the 8.2-kilometer highway from 2 lanes to 4 lanes.

Would you visit this tunnel once complete? Do you think it will be more scenic than the Kaybiang Tunnel?
