Visiting a Land Transportation Office (LTO) can be one of the most unpleasant tasks a driver or rider has to endure. No one relishes the thought of lining up, filling the forms, and waiting for your name to be called be it for a vehicle or license renewal. We've all been praying for some long-overdue upgrades with the agency to make transactions smoother and more efficient.

That prayer maybe soon answered as the LTO, under the leadership of Assistant Secretary, Edgar Galvante, has so far made many significant improvements to the agency once famous for blatant red tape and has now received the praise not only from the Anti-Red Tape Authority but also among citizens.

In Cebu, you might even look forward to transacting with the LTO, or even want to stay longer. In a Facebook post from Dee Rafols of Cebu City, he shared a photo of a man who has gotten too comfortable at the LTO's new and improved lounge with air-conditioning and FREE WIFI.

“Just visited LTO today. Grabe ang improvements, and the lounge, it’s a new thing, plus the FREE WiFi access by DICT. Good job! Naka benefit na jud tawon ta gamay sa tax nga atong ginabayad (Nagbebenepisyo na talaga tayo kahit papaano sa tax na ating binabayaran),”

Just last month, MotoPinas.com reported about the LTO's partnership with PLDT-Smart Communications and their project to make all LTO offices WIFI ready. Phase 1 of the project will involve 64 LTO offices around the country, 22 offices of which are in Metro Manila. The WIFI service is also part of the 600 Google Station sites for the whole Philippines as announced by the tech giant and Smart Communications early this year.

Are there any improvements in your local Land Transportation office?
