Free internet access to ease wait times.

As a motorist, we need to at least allot one full day when transacting with the Land Transportation Office (LTO). Although their services had greatly improved over the past few years, we still need to spend a few hours in line waiting for our renewed license or vehicle registration. This time spent waiting, at least, can be put to some use.

With the new partnership between the LTO and PLDT-Smart Communications, all LTO offices will soon become WIFI ready, giving its clients free WIFI access. LTO Assistant Secretary, Edgar Galvante, and Senior Vice President and Head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Groups, Jovy Hernandez, recently signed the deal, granting ALL of LTO's offices nationwide with free WIFI access.

According to ASEC Galvante in Filipino, giving free internet access to LTO's clients will be a big help, especially when the internet is being utilized these days for government services. Phase 1 of the project will involve 64 LTO offices around the country, 22 offices of which are in Metro Manila.

This WIFI service is part of 600 Google Station sites for the whole Philippines as announced by the tech giant and Smart Communications early this year.

So the next time you're transacting with the LTO, you can at least pass the time with the free internet.
