During the first quarter of this year, the DPWH had estimated that the BGC-Ortigas Link Bridge will be completed by Q3 of 2021. Just this weekend, the new bridge, which cuts travel time to just 12-minutes from the usual 45-minutes to 1-hour from BGC to Ortigas is now completed. The bridge was partially opened to motorists, with its opening coinciding with the country’s 123rd Independence Day celebrations.

The new bridge is estimated to take at least 25% of vehicle volume from both EDSA and C5, amounting to roughly 72,000 vehicles daily.

The new BGC-Ortigas Link bridge is funded through the government’s General Appropriations Fund which costs PhP1.793-billion. Since this is a PH government-funded project and not a Public-Private Partnership like the Skyway Stage 3 or the C5-Link bridge, the use of the new BGC-Ortigas Link bridge is absolutely free and there are no restrictions to sub-400cc motorcycles.
