Baguio City closes doors to tourists from NCR Plus

The government has again imposed a ‘lockdown’ in NCR, including the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, in an attempt to create a bubble within this new area that it calls NCR Plus.

According to the IATF said, going in and out of this “bubble” is prohibited unless you’re an Authorized Person Outside of Residence (APOR).

In response, Baguio City, which had just opened its doors to tourists from all over Luzon, is again closing its doors, but only to those who are coming from areas within NCR Plus.

Ika-cancel natin yung kanilang mga application to travel to Baguio, hindi talaga papayagan (we’ll cancel all their travel applications to Baguio, entry will no longer be allowed),” said city mayor, Benjamin Magalong.

The mayor also added that the city has come to this decision in support of the IATF’s new ruling, and also to encourage travelers to just stay at home to contain the spread of COVID-19.

“We’re not going to accept any visitor from the NCR Plus unless it is absolutely necessary like essential travel or government work-related,” added mayor Magalong.

Anyway, with all the checkpoints set up within and outside of NCR Plus, it is sensible to just stay at home and postpone any leisure/ non-essential activities to a later date.
