BS5-compliant Yamaha FZ-25 open for pre-order

Locally, we may only know the Yamaha FZ as a fuel-injected 150cc street bike. In India, however, it’s offered in FZ and FZS trim with a 250cc engine option, aside from 150cc.

The new 250cc FZ series is about to rollout in India boasting of BS6 (Euro 5) emissions compliance. Despite the current coronavirus situation, Yamaha India is accepting reservations for the new motorcycle. The announcement was made on their official social media channels.

The 2020 Yamaha FZ 25 gets a revised headlamp with twin LED projector headlamps. It includes safety features like an underbelly bash plate, a side-stand engine cut-off system, and ABS. It also includes a fully digital LCD instrument cluster.

Powering the FZ and FZS-25 is a 249 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that produces 20.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 20.1 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. It’s paired with a 5-speed transmission.

The FZ is offered in two colors: Metallic Black and Racing Blue. The FZS 25 will be offered in Dark Cyan, Dark Blue (with gold wheels), and Metallic White (with gold wheels). Further distinguishing the FZS-25 are the addition of knuckle guards, a flyscreen and pin-striping on the wheels. It has a seat height of 790 mm and tips the scales at 153 kg.

The FZ-25 will be launched first with the FZS-25 made available later in the year.

Yamaha India has yet to reveal prices of the new BS6-compliant FZ-25 and FZS-25.
