Iloilo city, home of the Dinagyang festival, will get a much needed traffic solution in the form of two new flyovers.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is working on making two new flyovers: the Jibao-an and the Buhang Flyovers to lessen traffic buildup along the busy thoroughfares of Iloilo City.

According to DPWH Iloilo City District Engineer, Rodney Gustilo, they are currently conducting consultation activities with stakeholders for the construction of the two flyovers. This serves as an opportunity to address issues and concerns from various communities and utility companies that might be affected by the construction of the proposed flyovers.

When officially approved, the Jibao-an Flyover will be built along the Iloilo Circumferential Road and its 300-linear meter span will cross the Mandurriao-San Miguel Road in Mandurriao District. Buhang Flyover, on the other hand, will also be constructed along the Iloilo Circumferential Road but will cross the Iloilo-Capiz Road with its 300-linear meter span in Jaro District.

A total of PhP 106 million will be needed to construct the flyovers in Iloilo City. Should both be completed in the not so distant future, motorists might soon be able to get to their destinations in a shorter amount of time.
