TVS will continue to make BMW’s sub-400cc motorcycles

TVS is perhaps known as the brand behind the Apache motorcycle line, at least here in the Philippines. In India, the TVS Motor Company is one of the biggest manufacturers in existence, with annual sales that exceed 3-million units and an annual capacity of producing more than 4-million vehicles.

With over 40 years of manufacturing expertise, BMW Motorrad has inked a strategic partnership with TVS a couple of years back and has spawned the G 310 R and G 310 GS motorcycles for the German brand.

In a recent statement, TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad announced that they are extending their long-term partnership as both companies embark on developing new motorcycles, including ones powered by batteries.

“The new world of future mobility encompasses a strong play through alternate solutions, including electric mobility,” says Sudarshan Venu, TVS Motor Company's Joint Managing Director.

Venu added that the upcoming platforms will be a great opportunity for them to create and deliver motorcycles to the world which are equipped with advanced technologies, possibly, with AI (artificial intelligence).

“Expanding this successful partnership to EVs and other newer platforms will create opportunities to deliver advanced technology and aspirational products to global markets and bring valuable synergies to both companies.”

The renewed partnership will see TVS and BMW continue with their sub-400cc lineup of motorcycles, possibly expanding the G 310 platform or they could be developing a whole new lineup to complement BMW’s entry-level motorcycles.

These new offerings from the renewed partnership are expected to come out within the next two years.
