Triumph is teasing fans with an upcoming model, this time, it’s a 1200cc sportbike based on the naked Speed Triple.

Speed Triple 1200 RR

To create the Speed Triple 1200 RR, Triumph will be using an existing platform. Just like how BMW uses the S 1000 R for the S 1000 RR and S 1000 XR; Kawasaki uses the Z 1000 for the Ninja 1000 and Versys 1000. For Triumph, the new Speed Triple platform will be shared with the upcoming Tiger 1200 adventure bike.

Though the new teaser only shows a few details of the RR, it is pretty much the naked Speed Triple 1200 with some more fairing. Instead of the bug-eye twin headlights, the Triple 1200 RR will feature a round LED headlight and be fitted with “half fairing” bodywork.

The ergonomics seem to lean towards a more aggressive riding stance, closer to that of a sportbike.

Like the upcoming Tiger 1200, the sporty Speed Triple RR will be powered by an inline three-cylinder, 1,160cc engine with a claimed power output of 179 Ps. The official launch date will be on September 14, 2021.
