The '91 Fatboy used in the movie sold more than double its estimate

With the multitude of reboots and sequels done to the Terminator movie franchise, it's likely many have forgotten the Terminator 2: Judgment Day movie released in 1991. Serving as a long overdue sequel to the 1984 original, the highly anticipated movie doubled up on the action with some of the most daring vehicle chase scenes in movie history.

Starring in the chase scene was a 1991 Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fatboy used by the title character played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The motorcycle featured in a variety of stunts, from burnouts, donuts, to jumping from an elevated road down into the LA River, all while being chased by the antagonist in a heavy duty wrecker.

The scene was particularly memorable to most riders as it served as the first starring role for the then newly-introduced Harley-Davidson Fat Boy line. Some credit the scene for growing the Fat Boy's popularity, making it one of Harley's most saleable model lines today.

The bike on auction was the actual one used in many of the scenes, and while it showed some signs of wear, only boasted of less than 400 miles on the odometer. The bike is part of auction house, Profiles in History's Icons & Legends of Hollywood auction, held in the US from June 5-8. It's listed among several other iconic movie paraphernalia, props, and vehicles that include the bus from Speed, the dropship from Aliens, and the Lawmaster motorcycle used by Stallone in Judge Dredd. The auction house had estimated its sale price to be between US$200,000 – US$300,000. However, the bike exceeded expectations and sold for a whopping US$480,000 (PhP25M) to an undisclosed bidder.
