TRB never issued directive

Skyway Stage 3 will not be closing after all. In an official statement released this morning, March 16, 2021, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) said it “DID NOT issue a decision or directive ordering the indefinite closure of the Skyway Stage 3 starting 5 p.m. of 16 March 2021.”

“The position of the TRB and its management is to keep Skyway Stage 3 OPEN for the benefit of all motorists.”

SMC President Ramon Ang confirmed that Skyway 3 will not be closing indefinitely after talking to Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.

“I have just talked to Secretary Tugade he will take care of TRB. No closure [of Skyway Stage 3],” Ang said.

Late last night, Skyway SOMCO (Skyway Operations and Management Corporation), through its official Twitter account, announced that the Skyway Stage 3 will be closed indefinitely due to a directive from the TRB. Skyway said it will reopen once all ramps are complete.

Opened to the public by San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Infrastructure in late December, no toll was charged as it has not been completed yet. In January, SMC Infrastructure said no toll would be charged for only a month. However, the TRB said the use of Skyway Stage 3 will remain free of charge until all the ramps have been built and the tollway’s full alignment completion has surpassed the 95% mark.
