The DDS is the more affordable version of the KRV 180i

About a month ago, KYMCO launched the scooter some might say is a potential “Nmax killer.” This new scooter is powered by a 180cc engine and features electronic riding aids such as traction control and ABS – usually fitted as standard features on larger motorcycles and maxi scooters. This scooter is the KRV 180i, which is scheduled to be available in KYMCO showrooms starting next month with an SRP of PHP 189,900.

Due to the global shortage on microchips – a critical component in the manufacturing of computer systems that control a vehicle or motorcycle’s ABS and traction control, the KRV 180i won’t be available in PH showrooms until first quarter of 2022.

Luckily for us all, KYMCO has jsut launched the “DDS” version of the KRV 180i, and will be available in showrooms as early as December 2021.

Regular vs the DDS

The “DDS” version is basically the same as the “regular” KRV 180i and still packs the same 175.1cc, liquid-cooled SOHC, Euro5-compliant engine that produces about 17 Ps of power and 16 Nm of torque. This makes it, by far, the most powerful scooter in the under 200cc category.

The KRV 180i DDS also boasts of the same aluminum alloy independent swingarm, power transmission matrix, KSS (KYMCO Suspension System), and rigid frame that promises better stability and handling versus other scooters in the sub-200cc category.

Additionally, the KRV 180i DDS isn't short on tech, with full-LED lighting and an LCD meter panel. There’s just a single USB charging port, while the remote/keyless feature of the KRV 180i is not found on the DDS.

Bringing it to a stop are disc brakes for the front and rear. As mentioned above, the global microchip shortage means that the DDS will not be equipped with traction control and ABS.

SRP

The SRP for the new KRV 180i DDS will be PHP 168,800, which is a full PHP 21,100 more affordable than the KRV 180i. It is also available in 4 colors: Scorching White, Snow Peak Silver,  Indigo Sea Blue, and Ether Black.
