A little over a year ago, Ducati unveiled a Hypermotard 950 concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Qualities like a screaming paint job, exposed clutch, and two-tone wheels seemed to have caught judges’ attention and earned it an award in the Concept Bikes category of the show.
For a concept, it appeared pretty close to production, with mainly the livery and exposed clutch distinguishing it from a showroom model. Looks like Ducati has given it a greenlight as it will soon be offered as the Hypermotard 950 RVE in showrooms soon.
Compared to the concept, the production version looks pretty close, save for the exposed dry clutch and some alterations to the rear bodywork. Nonetheless, most of the design elements, particularly the urban graffiti-inspired paintwork were retained.
We believe the RVE will be offered just under the Hypermotard 950 SP. After all, the SP features lots of carbon fiber and forged wheels. The RVE will serve as an accessible offering under it, fitted with the Ducati Quick Shift that was exclusive to the SP.
It’s certainly a welcome edition to the aging Hypermotard line and may be an appropriate swang song before it switches over to V2 and V4 engines.
The Hypermotard 950 RVE will be available in Ducati showrooms in July 2020.
