Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the distributor of BMW cars and motorcycles, recently held a sneak peek of its newest upcoming model, the G 310 R, to special guests.
The bike is BMW Motorrad's first sub-400cc motorcycle and will be the first of many new models built from the platform. Adventure touring and scrambler models based on the platform are already in development.
Powering G 310 R is a four-stroke, liquid-cooled 313cc single cylinder, tilted back, with its fuel-injected cylinder head rotated 180° and exhaust ports at its rear. This arrangement supposedly lowers the bike’s center of gravity towards the front wheel for agility and control. Redline is at 10,500rpm and power is rated 34PS at 9500rpm with 28Nm of torque at 7,500rpm.
Stopping is done with steel-braided brake lines, a 300mm front disc with radially mounted calipers, and a 240mm disc in the rear. As with all Beemers, ABS comes standard. The G310R’s suspension up front makes use of 41mm inverted telescopic forks, with an adjustable monoshock out back.
BMW Philippines will offer the G 310 R at a special introductory price of PhP 300,000. The bike will be made available in the early 2017.
