KTM announces limited edition 890 Adventure R Rally

KTM is perhaps the most successful factory team at the grueling Dakar Rally. Before the race’s 2020 edition, KTM dominated Dakar for 18 years straight and was back at the top for the 2023 edition.

Because of this, if there’s any manufacturer to claim that they are the best in rally racing, it would be KTM.

700-unit only 890 Adventure R Rally

Inspired by the spirit of the world’s two-wheeled explorers; The 2024 KTM 890 Adventure R Rally harnesses the very best of KTM’s rally success and engineering know-how as the most performance-driven Adventure motorcycle yet. This special model is ready to pre-order on September 20, and with it, KTM has launched an incredible Ultimate KTM Desert Experience event, exclusively available for those purchasing a new bike. The event will be happening in Morocco in March 2024.

While there’s no official announcement for pricing as of yet, industry sources suggest that this 700-unit-only KTM will be sold at a commanding price of PHP 2,200,000.00 – if there are Filipino customers who will partake in the September 20 event.

Inspired by Kevin Benavides’ Dakar-winning bike

As mentioned above, KTM is at the top of the food chain when it comes to rally racing. With that in mind, the KTM 890 Adventure R Rally encompasses that rally racing prowess in an Adventure machine like no other. With only 700 of these models available worldwide with comparable components to 2023 Dakar Rally winner Kevin Benavides’ Red Bull KTM Factory Racing KTM 450 Rally bike, this bike is touted by the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer as the most offroad capable two-wheeled adventurer on the market.

The 890 Adventure R Rally also boasts WP Xplor Pro suspension system which provides a superior ride for globetrotters carrying large amounts of luggage or pillion on their journeys, both on asphalt and offroad, with its 270 mm of travel.

889cc powerplant

At the heart of the 890 Adventure R Rally is an 889cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled powerplant that is capable of producing up to 106 Ps of power and 100 Nm of torque. It is then mated to a lightweight Akrapovič Slip-on Line exhaust system, similar to that used by KTM’s factory racing teams.

On the electronics side of things, the 890 Adventure R Rally boasts a 5” TFT screen, riding modes, off-road ABS, traction control, turn-by-turn navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, and many more. This model also boasts a race-specific rally seat, heavy-duty Excel rims, and rally footpegs for increased feeling and grip for extended off-road adventures.

Carbon tank guards protect the engine, rear master cylinder, and suspension are also fitted. A Supersprox-Stealth rear sprocket is utilized as a brand-new rally-derived and eye-catching functional design.
