Powering it is a 599cc inline 4-cylinder DOHC with 16 titanium valves and fuel injection. It’s aided by electronic aids like Yamaha’s Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I), adjustable Traction Control system (TCS), a Quick Shifter System (QSS), D-Mode adjustable engine power, and ABS. The bike is held aloft by fully adjustable YZF-R1-type 43mm upside down front forks combined with a rear shock.

The driver can gleam all of this from the race-style analogue tachometer with digital screen.

Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T)

The YCC-I produces a broader and more tractable powerband. It allows for a more precise throttle valve opening to be calculated and intake volume controlled in real time for more accurate thrust delivery.

Adjustable Traction Control System (TCS)

Another feature is the 6-mode adjustable TCS. It gives more confidence in various road conditions with a wide range of rider preferences. This system modulates throttle opening, ignition timing and fuel volume seamlessly with minimal disruption to forward drive, making it virtually unnoticeable by the rider.

Quick Shift System (QSS)

The QSS enables clutchless upshifts for faster acceleration without the need to clutch or rev match.

Selectable Drive Mode (D-Mode)

Riders can now select the ideal engine character for various riding situations. The D-Mode system offers three throttle valve control maps (Standard Mode, A-Mode, and B-Mode) with different throttle response settings for easy adaptability in just one click.

Upside Down Front Forks (USD)

Just like the YZF-R1, the R6 shares the same advanced KYB front telescopic forks which are then specifically tuned. These 43mm upside down forks ensure top-of-the-line front-end feel and experience while offering maximum adjustability.

New Brakes with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

The R6 also inherits the braking prowess of the YZF-R1 with larger 320mm dual front disc brakes, matched to radial-mount four-piston calipers and a Nissin radial-mount master cylinder. To top it all off, now it is equipped with ABS for maximum control under hard braking even in unfavorable road conditions.
