It’s a sad day for the motorcycling world today. Last night, a collection of over 200 vintage motorcycles, which could be the last remaining pieces of these production motorcycles from the last 100 years, are lost forever. Flames engulfed the Top Mountain Crosspoint Motorcycle Museum in Austria in which they were kept.
The museum sits at the base of the Timmelsjoch mountain pass road in Austria and is considered to be Europe’s highest museum in terms of elevation at 2,175 meters above sea level.
The Top Mountain Crosspoint Motorcycle Museum held one of the most extensive collections of vintage motorcycles anywhere in the world, where it is home to classic motorcycles from discontinued marques like Zündapp, Brough Superior, Vincent, Matchless, Sunbeam, and many more. These motorcycles are believed to be no younger than 60 years old.
The collection is housed in a 3,000-square meter area. Based on the video above, the fire may have turned everything into ashes. There were no reports of human casualties. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
