MMDA shows rerouting plan for 2020 People Power celebrations

MMDA redirecting traffic around EDSA People Power celebrations at monument

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advises motorists to take alternate routes tomorrow, Feb 25, 2020, particularly if it involves passing by the EDSA People Power Monument at the corner of White Plains Ave. and EDSA.

Several lanes around the monument are expected to be occupied during the 34th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Celebrations. These are the two outer lanes of White Plains Ave. as well as of EDSA Northbound near the People Power Monument.

Celebrations are expected to occur the whole day. As such, motorists are advised to avoid the area, as heavy traffic is expected.

In lieu of the celebration, classes and work has been suspended tomorrow. Color coding for private vehicles has also been suspended. The MMDA will set up a zipper lane along EDSA from Guadix Drive up to Santolan.

For those that absolutely have to pass through the area, the agency has suggested several alternate routes.

Along EDSA southbound: Turn right to aurora Blvd or Santolan, left to Gilmore or Ortigas, right to EDSA to destination.

Along EDSA northbound: Turn right to Kalayaan / Shaw / Ortigas, left to C5 to destination; or left to Ortigas towards Greenhills, right to Santolan to destination; or right to Ortigas, left to Green Meadows or C5 to destination; or use the Zipper Lane at EDSA before Guadix Drive up to Santolan to destination.

Along Ortigas (eastbound): Go straight to Ortigas, left to Green Meadows or C5 to destination.

Along Ortigas (westbound): Go straight to Ortigas, right to Santolan or N. Domingo to destination.

For those along Katipunan (southbound) intending to turn right at white plains: go straight ahead to Temple Drive, right at Green Meadows to destination.

For those along Temple Drive (northbound) intending to turn left at White Plains Ave.: Go straight ahead to Katipunan to destination.
