Honda had gone ahead to announce what’s new for the 2021-onwards updates of the CRF250L and CRF250 Rally. The models are scheduled to be launched on November 13, 2020.

Nonetheless, as early as now, we can already tell what's changed. According to Honda, the updates were inspired by the “concept of Evolved On-Off Gear”, which is a refinement of its previous concept of "On (convenience of daily life) and Off (holiday fun)," making it easy to handle in urban areas and off-road riding.

Most vidually evident is the CRF250L’s headlight, which is now LEd and similar to the CRF450L, a larger heat shield for the exhaust header, body-matching hand guards, and an underbelly skid plate.

For the Rally, Honda says they’ve added a larger windshield, larger fuel tank, larger heat shield for the exhaust header, as well as matching hand guards. The asymmetric headlights will stay for the 2021 model year.

Under the skin lies a redesigned frame for both bikes. The frames were redesigned to optimize rigidity, balance, and to reduce weight. This is much appreciated as the CRF250L is often criticized by buyers as being one of the heaviest. We sure hope that there is indeed a great reduction in both the CRF250L and CRF250 Rally’s overall weight.

The intake and exhaust systems were also improved to reduce emissions as well return better low to midrange power output.

Also new for 2021 is upgraded suspension for both bikes, now with longer travel. Finally, both bikes now come with ABS as standard.
