The Speed Triple 1200 RS is billed as the ultimate performance naked sports bike. For this iteration, it has been purpose-designed from the ground up.

The Speed Triple 1200 RS features compact new bodywork featuring a carbon fiber front mudguard, color coded belly pan and seat cowl with an interchangeable pillion seat, and a new compact tail unit. It rides on 17-inch lightweight cast aluminium, black painted V-spoke wheels.

It’s offered in Sapphire Black, with red and silver graphics, or Matt Silver Ice, with black, silver and yellow graphics.

This is paired with all-LED lighting with a new daytime running light signature. There’s a new tail light to match. They’re paired with self-cancelling turn signals as standard.

Powering the Speed Triple is an 1160cc triple engine developed from Triumph’s Moto2 race engine program. It delivers 180-PS peak power at 10,750 rpm and 125-Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm. The figures are 30PS more with the red line now raised by 650 rpm to 11,150rpm. It’s also designed to return torque in the low and mid range.

The gains are thanks to a new ignition system, with twin tip spark plugs and lighter cooling system, neatly packaged with an integrated oil circuit heat exchanger.

This is all mounted on an all-new chassis with a cast aluminum frame to better centralize its mass. Even the battery hasn’t been spared with a lithium ion battery fitted as standard. The weight distribution has been moved further forward and lower down. It boasts of a wet weight of just 198 kg , the new bike is an incredible 10kg lighter than the previous generation.

Delivering that power is a new, lighter slip and assist clutch connected to a completely new, and more compact, stacked 6-speed gearbox.

It rides on Öhlins NIX30 upside down forks, adjustable for pre-load, rebound and compression damping. The rear has Öhlins TTX36 twin tube monoshock, also adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping.

It’s then brought to a stop by twin Brembo Stylema radial monobloc front calipers, and a Brembo twin-piston rear caliper. Touching the road are Metzeler Racetec RR, which are Metzeler’s highest specification tyres approved for road use.

Vital trip info can be seen on the new 5-inch TFT screen. It displays the many rider aids that are active like the new Shift Assist up-and-down quickshifter, optimised Cornering ABS, switchable ptimised Cornering Traction Control (with IMU), 5 riding modes (including Track mode), front-wheel lift control, cruise control and the My Triumph Connectivity System fitted as standard.

Toggling through these settings is easy even at night with backlit switch cubes.

Starting it up is made more convenient with the full keyless system, including keyless ignition and steering lock, as well as a new keyless fuel filler cap.

The new Speed Triple 1200 RS is priced at PhP1,195,000. Interested clients may now make reservations with Triumph Philippines. Due to the unpredictable nature of production and shipping during this time, Triumph Philippines cannot yet provide a definitive delivery date. It assures customers though that the model is scheduled to arrive locally soon.
