Triumph becomes first British motocross world champion since 1965
Triumph has secured its first FIM World Championship title after Guillem Farres won the 2026 MX2 Motocross World Championship aboard the TF 250-X in Darwin, Australia.
Farres clinched the title in the opening moto of the final round, while teammate Camden McLellan won the Grand Prix to finish the season second in the championship. The result gave Triumph a championship 1-2 and its first FIM MX2 Motocross Manufacturers World Championship.
The achievement came just three years after Triumph entered motocross competition with the TF 250-X. Farres and McLellan combined for 11 Grand Prix wins, 21 moto victories and 26 overall podium finishes during the 2026 season, helping Triumph also secure the MX2 Teams' Championship.
Farres, 23, won 14 motos and six Grands Prix, including four straight overall victories during the middle of the season. He took control of the championship after winning the MXGP of Great Britain in July and ended the season 36 points ahead of McLellan.
McLellan, 22, led the championship early in the season after winning the second round in Spain. The South African went on to win five Grands Prix, including the final two rounds in China and Australia, while adding eight other overall podium finishes.

Triumph said the championship makes it the first British manufacturer to win a world motocross title since 1965.
Triumph CEO Nick Bloor credited the riders and factory racing team for delivering the company's first world championship just three years after entering the sport.

The TF 250-X made its FIM MX2 debut in 2024, with Mikkel Haarup scoring Triumph's first Grand Prix podium. McLellan followed with the team's first moto win in 2025 before Triumph reached the championship level this season.
Farres will move up to the MXGP class with Triumph in 2027, while McLellan is set to remain in MX2.
The two riders will next compete in the FIM Motocross of Nations, with Farres representing Spain and McLellan racing for South Africa.
