VinFast electric scooters hit Jakarta roads with PHP 137 daily boundary
VinFast electric motorcycles are now being used for ride-hailing in Jakarta, Indonesia, as Vietnamese mobility company Green SM, more popularly known in the Philippines as Green GSM, expands its electric transport operations in Indonesia from cars to two-wheelers.
Green SM officially launched its Green SM Bike service in Jakarta on September 16, 2026. The service is currently available in selected areas of South, West, and Central Jakarta.
The company uses the VinFast Evo and Feliz II electric scooters, with customers able to book rides through the Green SM app. Riders can choose between the standard ride-hailing service and the Green Now option for faster bookings.
For partner drivers, Green SM offers several ways to use the electric scooters. Its rent-to-own program starts at IDR 39,000 per day, or roughly PHP 137, with the driver having the opportunity to own the vehicle after two years. Drivers can also choose three, six, or 12 months rental terms, with an IDR 150,000 deposit, equivalent to around PHP 525.
Green SM says drivers under the rent-to-own program can receive guaranteed earnings of up to IDR 160,000 per day, or around PHP 560. Those choosing the rental option are offered the same guaranteed daily earnings for their first two months, plus performance bonuses.
The scooters are supported by V-Green’s battery-swapping network, with Green SM offering drivers up to five free battery swaps per day. This reduces the need to wait for conventional charging and helps keep the scooters on the road.
The Jakarta launch follows a pilot operation in which VinFast Feliz II scooters were already spotted operating in the city. V-Green is also expanding its battery-swapping network in Indonesia, with more than 3,200 swap stations reported across Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Bali, Makassar, and Medan.
Adding motorcycles gives Green SM’s Indonesian operations another option for urban trips alongside its electric taxi service.
The setup also has a familiar comparison in the Philippines. VinFast’s rent-to-own arrangement is similar to the “boundary” system used by many PUV drivers, where a driver pays a fixed amount each day to drive a vehicle and keeps whatever is earned beyond that amount.
For motorcycle taxi and delivery riders, the daily payment for an electric scooter could be comparable to the cost of a simple lunch, leaving a larger share of the day’s earnings as their take home pay.
