Tiger 850 Sport, starts at PHP 848K

During last weekend’s Makina Moto Tiangge, Triumph Motorcycles Philippines introduced the Tiger 850 Sport – touted as a road-focused bike with the versatility of an adventure bike.

Lighter than the 900

The new (in the PH) Tiger 850 Sport is 6 kilograms lighter than the Tiger 900 GT Pro, tipping the scales at 192 kilograms (dry). Like the Tiger 900 GT Pro, the 850 is also equipped with an 888cc inline liquid-cooled 3-cylinder, DOHC engine. It produces 85 Ps of power at 8,500 rpm and 82 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch.

All that matters

As mentioned above, the Tiger 850 Sport is a road-focused motorcycle and has all the basic items that you would need on the road. As for the electronic riding modes, the Tiger 850 Sport enjoys Road and Rain modes only – just what you need when on the pavement. Also, the Tiger 850 Sport shares the 5-inch TFT screen with the Tiger Sport 660.

As for the suspension, the Tiger 850 Sport shares the 45mm upside-down Marzocchi fork with the Tiger 900 but has a manual preload-adjustable rear suspension unit.

More affordable

As for the price, the new Tiger 850 Sport is now available with an SRP that starts at PHP 848,000. It is available in Caspian Blue and Diablo Red color schemes.

By comparison, the Tiger 900 GT Pro, with electronic suspension, quick-shifter, 5 riding modes, etc., has an SRP that starts at PHP 1,160,000.
