Yamaha takes on Honda’s CRF 150L with the WR 155R

Fans of dual-sport motorcycles have something to be happy about as the all-new WR 155R has hit Yamaha 3S showrooms with an SRP of PhP169,000.

The new WR 155R is inspired by Yamaha’s legendary WR series of enduro bikes and is powered by a potent 155cc powerplant similar to the XSR 155 that was launched last July and the R15 v3. The engine produces 16.7 PS of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.3 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

By comparison, the new Yamaha WR 155R’s seat height is a bit higher at 880mm versus Honda’s CRF 150L at only 869mm. The new WR is a also bit heavier at 134 kilograms versus the CRF 150L’s 122 kilograms.

Other features include an 8.1-liter fuel tank, LCD multi-function display, front and rear disc brakes; semi-double-cradle frame for performance and stability, front KYB telescopic forks and rear mono-shock absorber with preload adjustment.

Interestingly, this new street-legal, dual-sport motorcycle from Yamaha has its exhaust pipe on the opposite side (left) as opposed to the usual right side exhaust of most bikes. The only other motorcycles with this configuration are old-school European bikes.

The new WR 155R is available in blue or black color schemes at all Yamaha 3S shops nationwide.
