Yamaha Philippines' prodigal son is back, as they re-introduce the Bolt 950 R-Spec at the Makina Moto Show happening this weekend at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay. The XV 950 Bolt, was first introduced by Yamaha PH back in 2016 but was discontinued only after a few months. The new Bolt 950 R-Spec still features the same air-cooled SOHC 60° V-twin 942cc engine with four valves per cylinder. The engine features a pent-roof shaped combustion chamber and 9.0:1 compression ratio. It was designed to provide excellent power and superior low-end torque. According to the Yamaha representative, the new Bolt 950 R-Spec is now equipped with an Anti-lock braking system (ABS).
Another Yamaha that was introduced during the Makina Moto Show was the XSR700. It is powered by the same 689 cc, liquid cooled engine from the MT-07 that features Yamaha’s “Crossplane Concept.” The XSR700 blends Yamaha’s world-class engineering with timeless style, creating a new type of machine for riders looking for an authentic and honest motorcycle that doesn’t sacrifice performance. The XSR700 will be positioned below the XSR900 as a middleweight option for riders looking for a custom look but in a more accessible size.
Drawing influence from Yamaha’s classic “XS” series of motorcycles, the XSR oozes class, with exposed aluminum details, retro-influenced bodywork, a stepped seat and custom lighting and instrumentation.
Though these bikes will be available at Yamaha Yzone shops in the future, the SRP has yet to be announced. Our Yamaha insiders, however, said that the SRP of the Bolt 950 R-Spec could be somewhere within PhP520,000 – PhP550,000, while the XSR700 will be a tad bit more than the MT 07's PhP439,000 SRP.
