This time, we bring you a very unlikely pairing: Fast and Furious star, Vin Diesel, and an electric scooter.

The toughguy gearhead turned international spy seems to have traded in his Dodge Charger muscle car for an electric scooter, the Yadea G5 to be precise.

In an advertisement released in Vietnam, Diesel plays a character similar to some of his many roles. He starts out as a performer at an upscale club. He sings his way from the stage towards a beautiful woman. It turns out he’s more interested in her companion, stealing a thumb drive from his pocket and making quick work of the villain’s thugs. The chase proceeds on wheels, with Diesel on an electric scooter, pursued by large SUVs filled with more bad guys. All the while, Diesel is chatting with his assistant who is looking out for him, asking more questions about the scooter than the mission. We’ll leave the rest of the plot for you to see.

Yadea may not be available locally, but it may soon be. The Chinese scooter company already exports to 77 countries, including the US and Germany so we might not have to wait long for its arrival.

It’s powered by a lithium battery and a 2,300W electric motor in the entry level City version. The G5 City has a top speed of 45 km/h and a range of 60-km. It comes with a 3,100W motor in the Pro version. This one has a top speed of 60 km/h and a range of 130-km. The Pro has a double battery which appears to be removable. With its charger, the G5 can be recharged up to 80 % in one hour.

Yadea claims its batteries are very safe, integrating short circuit, overcharging, and surge protection. During its promotional launch in Vietnam, the brand even let customers test ride it through a simulated flood.

It’s definitely the last thing we expected Vin Diesel to endorse, however, it has certainly gotten us curious. At least Groot would approve.
