Celebrating its 60th year in Grand Prix racing, Yamaha’s factory racing team officially unveiled the 2021 MotoGP season’s livery and jockeys and YZR-M1 race bikes.

Maverick Viñales

Valentino Rossi’s former teammate, Maverick Viñales, will continue to race for Yamaha’s factory racing team this season. After an outstanding 2019 season where he finished third overall, 2020 was only satisfactory for “MV12” as he finished 6th overall.

This year, the 26-year-old Spaniard is confident that 2021 may indeed become his best season, despit the departure of Rossi from the team. “I really believe that in 2021 I will do everything possible to make it my best season,” said Viñales.

Fabio Quartararo

Perhaps the “next Marc Marquez”, this 21-year-old rider entered the premier class in 2019, riding for Yamaha’s satellite team, Petronas Yamaha SRT. This promising young rider replaced The Doctor when the latter moved to the Petronas Yamaha SRT back in September of last year.

Of course, their success will also depend on an equally-talented test rider. For this season, Monster Energy Yamaha will depend on the skillful riding of Cal Crutchlow, who raced for both MotoGP and World Superbike Championship, to handle the test riding duties for the team.
