After introducing Motobot, autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot, at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, Yamaha has gone one step further and released the sequel, which now also stars one of the brands greatest racers.
Entitled 'Motobot Meets The Doctor', the new video shows MotoGP star Valentino Rossi accepting the challenge of competing on the racetrack against the Motobot.
Rossi does a little bit of acting as he looked enthralled by Motobot as he sees it for the first time riding the YZF-R1M in the metal.
The video shows a Yamaha engineer speaking to Rossi about the basic operation of Motobot, how it brakes, accelerates and shifts gears by itself, and also how Yamaha plans to get the Motobot riding at over 200 kilometers per hour on the track by 2017.
Motobot is a collaboration between Yamaha and SRI International, one of the world's leading R&D centers. It is 'designed and engineered with a focus on riding and operating a motorcycle from the same perspective as a human rider without any modifications being made to the motorcycle itself'
