The Ox Patagonia is a green adventure bike

Adventure bikes and adventure riding are quickly becoming popular here in the country, especially now that more and more people want to avoid crowds. Similarly, with the sky-rocketing prices of fuel, more and more Filipinos are switching to modes of transportation that are powered by batteries.

Just recently, the Spanish brand, Ox, has presented a unique electric motorcycle that they intend to be used for adventure riding: the Patagonia. The best part, the new bike will only retail for USD 7,200, or roughly PHP 400,000.

The Patagonia is an adventure bike that shares much of its components with Ox’s One Café Racer e-bike. It is equipped with a 6-kW hub motor, which Ox claims to be capable of propelling the Patagonia up to 110 kilometers per hour on the highway. Powering the Patagonia is a 22kg, 4.32 kWh removable battery that has a claimed range of more or less 100 kilometers.

Obviously, this limit in range wouldn’t make the Patagonia an ideal adventure bike, unless, you strap a couple of batteries to extend the range that is closer to the range of an adventure bike with a 32-liter fuel tank. Charging time would take approximately 5 hours to full.

Other features include a rigid double-cradle frame, fully-digital dash, storage compartment inside the “tank”, USB charger and GPS navigation. A set of dual-sport tires, long-travel suspension, and panniers complete the Patagonia e-adventure bike package. So, for less than PHP 400,000 and zero emissions, would you trade your traditional adventure bike for a Patagonia?
