Kymco may have some competition when it comes to highway-legal maxi-scooters as fellow-Taiwanese brand, SYM, has just launched the new Maxsym 400.

The 2021 Maxsym 400 is all-new, featuring a more modern design, retuned engine, and several high-tech additions.

First of all, it now sports distinctive new lights. The front features a three-eye LED design with LED position lamp strips. Behind are new line-style LED taillights. Even the turn signals are LED.

SYM has also redesigned the body, now shorter by 40mm to make it more manageable in tight spaces.

It’s started up with a new keyless system, allowing riders to simply keep the fob in their pocket while riding.

Powering it is a 399cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine that’s Euro-5 compliant. It produces 34 PS at 6,750 rpm and 39.5 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm paired with a CVT. SYM says it can reach a top speed of 140 km/h.

Bringing it to a stop are twin discs in front and a single disc in the rear. In addition, the Maxsym is fitted with ABS and traction control.

Like before, the Maxsym 400 also offers lots of storage. It has two covered storage spaces on the front shield and a large underseat storage for a full-face helmet.

For now, the Maxsym 400 is only available in Taiwan, however, the model will likely arrive in other markets very soon.
