SYM (Sanyang Motor Co.) has taken the wraps off its flagship maxi-scooter, the Maxsym, unveiling the 2020 version of the TL500.
SYM has updated its engine into a new 2-cylinder liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 465cc. It now produces 40 hp at 6,750 rpm and 42.5 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. This is paired with a wet clutch, multi-disc automatic to a new chain final drive to reduce power loss.
The motorcycle features 50/50 weight distribution, a shortened wheelbase, upside down forks in front and an extended aluminum swing arm to improve the maxi-scooter’s handling and stability.
SYM has also updated its styling. SYM says its new design is based on the idea of fluidic concept. It comes with an adjustable windshield as standard. The Maxsym now also features all-LED lighting. For the rider, it has a full-color 4.5-inch LCD TFT screen.
Besides the large underseat storage area, the Maxsym also features two compartments on the front shield. One of them is even equipped with a power outlet.
The Maxsym rolls on 15-inch wheels, with 120mm 70 series tires in front and 160mm 60 series in the rear. The TL500 comes standard with front and rear disc brakes with ABS.
SYM claims it can reach a top speed of 139 km/h. It’s paired with a large 12.5 liter fuel tank for long range.
Those already interested will be delighted to know it has a seat height of 795 mm. It does, however, tip the scales at a hefty 223 kg.
