At around the same time last year, Suzuki Philippines unveiled the GSX-S1000. This naked liter bike is powered by the same 999cc inline-four engine of Hamamatsu’s flagship bike, the GSXR-1000R.
With the non-Euro5 compliant GSX-S750, which means it cannot be sold in Europe and also in India (BS5 regulation), Suzuki technically had no contender in the naked middleweight bike segment until now.
At the recently concluded EICMA show in Milan, Italy, Suzuki unveils the all-new GSX-8S naked bike, filling the gap between the Gixxer 250 and the GSX-S1000.
The GSX-8S is based on Suzuki’s new 776cc parallel-twin engine platform that is shared with the new V-Strom 800DE. The new liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine is claimed to be capable of producing 86 PS of power and 74 Nm of torque with 270° crank and a patented crankshaft balancer to reduce vibrations.
Like any naked bike, the new GSX-8S puts emphasis on minimalist looks and features full LED lighting, an aluminum frame and a tube sub-frame.
The seat height is 810mm and the weight in running order is 202 kilograms. The Suzuki GSX-8S is equipped with a full-color TFT multifunction display, 14-liter fuel tank, ABS and will be available in three colors: Blue, White and Black.
Philippine pricing and availability are yet to be announced by Suzuki Philippines.
