Suzuki Philippines will introduce a new model this coming week: the Intruder 150.
Those familiar with Suzuki's history may recognize the Intruder name. Suzuki offered a line of cruisers built for the US market in the 90's called the VS Intruder. These were offered in various displacements from 400 all the way to 1,800cc.
Today, the Intruder name is coming back to adorn a more accessible bike, the Intruder 150. The Intruder 150 has long been offered in India, with its latest iteration sporting adventurous cruiser styling reminiscent of Victory motorcycles and maybe a cheeky nod to the Ducati Diavel.
Though it is inspired by cruisers, the Intruder 150 would be classified locally as a Street (ST) motorcycle. It's built upon the Gixxer 150's platform and even uses the same 155cc FI engine. Naturally, it also features the steep rake, high ground clearance, and upright riding position of a street class motorcycle. The Intruder 150 hopes to serve as an alternative to the typically sportily-styled street bikes.
In India, the Intruder is offered in either a carburetor or fuel injected 155cc engine. It produces 14.8 PS at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. It's paired with a 5-speed transmission.
The Intruder will come with an electric starter, red illuminated instrument cluster, LED tail lamps, and twin exhausts. It will be brought to a stop with discs in front and behind. It will have an 11-liter fuel tank and boast of fuel consumption at 50 km/l.
Suzuki has teased its arrival on its social media page. With a very recognizable silhouette and very revealing clues, there could be no other model but the Intruder 150. It will publicly launch the motorcycle this Saturday with more details on the launch on its social media page. Prices have yet to be revealed, though knowing Suzuki, it should be very agreeable to most potential buyers.
