Still no cruiser from Suzuki PH this year

The Philippines is one of the fastest-growing markets in Southeast Asia in terms of motorcycle sales. In fact, all segments have seen steady growth in sales, with the cruiser segment having respectable numbers month-by-month.

That’s why American brands Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle – brands that are popular for their cruiser models – have already entered the Philippine market years ago, with the Japanese brands Kawasaki and Honda close by with their Vulcan (650, 900, and 1700) and Rebel (500 and soon 1100), respectively.

Yamaha, a few years ago, also offered a cruiser with the Bolt 900. The new version, Bolt 950, is rumored to become available in the country within this year.

But how about Suzuki? Well, it seems they have no plans on bringing in their cruiser bikes – for now.

Suzuki Boulevard

Just recently, Japanese “Big 4” member, Suzuki, has announced their 2022 models for the US market. What caught our attention is the Boulevard C50 and C50T (touring) cruiser motorcycles. The “50” in the nameplate stands for 50 cubic inches of displacement, or about 820cc.

Its engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission, with a propeller, as opposed to a chain or belt, as the final drive.

According to Suzuki, “its fuel-injected, 50 cubic inches, (liquid-cooled) V-twin engine delivers loads of torque and a road-commanding personality. Its bold, classic stance stands out in a crowd, while a long list of features makes it ideal for comfortable long-distance cruising. Tour-ready features include a spacious riding position, aerodynamic windshield, and custom studded saddlebags that match the studded dual seats that deliver all-day rider and passenger comfort.”

The Suzuki Boulevard C50 and C50T (aka VL800 in other markets) have been in continuous production since 2001.

When asked if Suzuki PH will provide its dealers with an inventory of C50s and C50Ts, they simply answered that for now, “Suzuki PH has no plans for a Suzuki cruiser motorcycle.”

Other options

For fans of the Suzuki brand that want to add a cruiser in their garage, there are many options available for you. For example, household cruiser brand, Harley-Davidson, has a wide selection of cruiser models to suit your style and budget preferences. They also have showrooms in Cavite, Cebu, Davao, EDSA, and BGC.

Other options include cruisers from Indian, Kawasaki, and Honda.
