A portion of the Skyway Stage 3 project has collapsed last Saturday, February 1, 2020, due to the massive flames that engulfed a nearby warehouse in Pandacan, Manila.
The warehouse, which belongs to San Miguel Yamamura Corporation – one of San Miguel Corporation's subsidiaries – caught fire at around 10:30 AM and has also razed the nearby infrastructure. San Miguel Corporation, through its infrastructure division, is also the project contractor for the Skyway Stage 3.
Initially projected to be ready for traffic this coming March, and which could cut the travel time from north of Manila to the south of Manila (and vice versa) significantly, the project is now under assessment to find out the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
The Government's Build, Build, Build! Chairperson, Anna Mae Lamentillo, has shared with MotoPinas.com that currently, the assessment is still underway and they will inform the public as soon as data becomes available on whether the project completion needs to be extended or will push through with the original target date.
