As if it was a bad April Fool's joke, the Metro Manila Development Authority announced during the weekend that the left-turning ramp from Manila going to Cubao will be closed to all traffic, indefinitely, starting today, April 1, 2019.

Motorists of all types of vehicles, are now being redirected to take the Magallanes Village loop (turn right at the street beside Shell) and exit back to EDSA if going to Cubao, coming from Manila. In a statement released by the MMDA, the heavy volume of vehicles coming from Manila/ Gil Puyat Ave crossing with vehicles coming from EDSA and onto South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) has been causing gridlock and accidents in the area, hence the reason for closure.

The MMDA also added that almost 8,000 vehicles are traversing the interchange coming from Manila going to Cubao while 19,000 vehicles cross from EDSA to SLEx, creating a lot of traffic jams and accidents, especially during rush hour.
