BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road project to be completed in just over a year

Motorists need not pass by EDSA or C5 to get from Ortigas to Bonifacio Global City. They will soon be linked by a PhP 1.6 billion bridge that is now under construction, called the Lawton Avenue-Global City Viaduct. The bridge is part of the BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road project.

The 613 meter bridge will stretch across the Pasig River and connect Lawton Avenue in Makati City to Santa Monica, in Pasig City. When completed, the BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road will have four lanes and will serve as an alternate route for motorists. It is hoped to help decongest traffic along EDSA, C5, as well as other major thoroughfares. Both the DPWH and UMPO-RMC 1 are optimistic that they will be able to meet the project's target date of completion on June 2020.

Construction of the Php 1.6 billion bridge is already in full swing with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Unified Project Management Office-Roads Management Cluster 1 (UPMO-RMC 1) busy constructing the key road link.

According to Emil K. Sadain, DPWH Undersecretary for Technical Services, construction workers are working hard to continue with installation of pilecap reinforcements at Pier 6 and traveling frameworks at Pier 7. Given the favorable weather conditions, Sadain added that the pace of the project is fast and is progressing quickly. They also added that the bridge itself is already 30% complete.

This leaves just one year and 2 months to go before its target completion.
