New scenic ride through lush greenery

Here’s some good news for our friends Mindanao: traveling from Lanao Del Sur to Bukidnon (and vice versa) just got easier thanks to the Department of Public Works and Highways' (DPWH) latest project.

The government agency has recently opened the Sta. Felomina-Bonbonon-Digkilaan-Rogongon Road. It spans a total of 60.4 km and cuts travel time by as much as two hours. No longer do you have to go through Cagayan De Oro (CDO) in order to get to either province.

New 60.4 km road connects Lanao Del Sur to Bukidnon

According to the DPWH, the new two-lane road connects Iligan City, Lanao Del Sur with the municipality of Talakag in Bukidnon. It features paved concrete roads, cross drainage systems, and lined canals for better flow of rainwater. Moreover, the new road is part of the Mindanao East – West Lateral Road which serves as a key road network that connects Region 10 with Region 13.

With the opening of the Sta. Felomina-Bonbonon-Digkilaan-Rogongon Road, the DPWH claims that, not only will this significantly reduce travel time, it will also help improve the local economy and livelihoods of many in both Lanao Del Sur and Bukidnon. In addition, farmers can also take advantage of the new road in order to send their produce and livestock to markets more efficiently.

Beyond domestic trade, the 60.4 km road will also promote eco-tourism, agriculture and industry projects, and serve as an accessible route for those living in remote areas.

The new Sta. Felomina-Bonbonon-Digkilaan-Rogongon Road joins the soon-to-be-completed Alae Bypass Road as some of the government's key 'Build, Build, Build' projects in Mindanao.
