Macky Carapiet voted into FIM’s executive board

At the recently-held Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) General Assembly in Rimini, Italy, the Philippines’ Stephan “Macky” Carapiet was voted for a seat at the world motorcycling sports’ governing body’s Executive Board.

“I personally thank all my supporters and our FIM Asia and FIM admin [for the] teamwork and [the] stakeholders’ cooperation of success, for the trust and confidence entrusted on me,” said Carapiet, who is also the current president of the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA).

Carapiet, with 27 years of service in motorsports and a former racer himself, is also the current president of FIM Asia. He was voted unopposed by other FIM continental presidents from Europe, Oceania, Africa, North, and Latin America as their representative for Continental Unions (CONU) to the new FIM Executive Board.

Additionally, the newly-appointed members of the FIM World Executive Board were: Ignacio Verneda, FIM Deputy President; Giovanni Copioli, FIM Vice President; Francoise Emery, FIM CEO.
