Yesterday, the Inter-Agency TWG recommended for the immediate termination of the Motorcycle Taxi Pilot Run project. TWG Chairman, Antonio Gardiola Jr. cited “legal rigmaroles” caused by Angkas, which has filed temporary restraining orders against the extended pilot run’s new provisions in regional trial courts in Quezon City and Mandaluyong City. Gardiola has also cited other violations by Angkas, such as its operation outside of designated Pilot Test Run cities, as well as the company’s alleged foreign ownership according to records from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Senators, the public, and stakeholders, however, aired their support of the motorcycle taxi services, urging for the continuation of the Pilot Run program during the hearing yesterday. Sen. Bong Go vowed to file a letter of recommendation to DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, as well as to President Duterte to continue to Pilot Run program under certain conditions.

The senator lauded the benefit these motorcycle ride-hailing services provided to the public but also cautioned operators to prioritize the safety of their passengers.
