MMDA fully implements MC Lane today along Commonwealth Avenue

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has started today, March 27, the full implementation of the controversial Motorcycle (MC) Lane along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

The dry run for the exclusive MC Lane started on March 9, 2023, with the MMDA reportedly flagging down 949 riders after 4 days. Then on March 20, 2023, the MMDA announced that it is extending the MC Lane dry run, citing road patchwork and other public works-related matters as the cause of the postponement of its full implementation.

“We opt to continue the dry run of the exclusive motorcycle lane along Commonwealth Ave. from Elliptical Road to Doña Carmen and vice versa. In coordination with the DPWH, their patch works in the area will continue to address the issues on the said road,” said MMDA acting chairman, Atty. Don Artes in an earlier interview.

Meanwhile, Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers who are caught violating the exclusive MC Lane will be slapped with a PHP 1,200.00 fine by the MMDA.

The MMDA also added that as of 12 noon today, there have been a total of 1,238 drivers who have been ticketed, 482 of which are motorcycle riders.
