Two new Pinoy racing icons debut in Asia Road Racing Championship UB150

After a 2-year hiatus due to health and safety restrictions, the Asia Road Racing Championship this 2022. Yamaha Motor Philippines is fielding its newest riders in the UB150 Category - April King Mascardo and Gian Carlo Mauricio. The duo will compete under the UMA Racing MMR Yamaha Philippines team.

The Filipino riders will be competing under high expectations because they are following the feat of McKinley Kyle Paz. ‘The Wonderboy’ was named the champion of the category and became the first Filipino to win the title.

During their season debut at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand last weekend, Mascardo qualified in 6th, while Mauricio qualified 11th.

Mascardo made a strong start as he positioned himself in 3rd early in the race, but ended Race 1 in 9th. Incidentally, Mauricio also found himself running in 3rd spot at one point but an unfortunate technical issue ended his race prematurely.

In Race 2, Mascardo was able to make a stronger performance as he finished 5th in a hotly contested race where 2nd to 5th position runners were all finished within half a second. Mauricio finished 16th out of 18 competitors.
