E-bikes to patrol Baywalk

In celebration of the 118th founding anniversary of the Manila Police District (MPD) last January 28, 2019, Manila's Finest received 50 brand new electric motorcycles donated by the People's Republic of China, through Chinese Ambassador, His Excellency, Zhao Jianhua.

According to the Embassy, the motorcycles are worth around US$180,000 or approximately PhP 9,452,700. The donation reflects China's efforts "to effectively assist the capacity building of the Manila Police and to fulfill Mayor (Joseph) Estrada’s advocacy of a green and clean city.”

Receiving the donation was Manila Mayor, Joseph Estrada, and MPD Chief Senior Superintendent, Vicente Danao Jr.

Danao told reporters that these electric motorcycles will play a crucial role in Task Force Malinis na Kapaligiran (Clean Environment) in line with Mayor Joseph Estrada’s executive Order No. 3, series of 2019 to strictly enforce anti-littering ordinances and to arrest those caught violating those laws.

Task Force Malinis na Kapaligiran will monitor the city’s waste management contractors and encourage all of Manila’s 896 barangays to take part in the overall cleanliness campaign. 10 of the 50 electric motorcycles will be automatically stationed along Baywalk in Roxas Boulevard “to aid in cleaning the whole area and removing and relocating eyesore stalls,” the MPD Chief added.
