LTO extends registration validity due to MECQ

With LTO offices in the Greater Metropolitan Area (GMA) closed for the duration of the newly imposed MECQ, the LTO has announced a further extension of validity for vehicles due for registration.

In a new memo following the announcement of MECQ, the LTO has extended the validity of vehicle registration without penalty for another 15 days. This means vehicles due for registration from June 2020 to August 2020 now have until September 30, 2020 to register their vehicles.

Motorcycles with plate numbers ending in numbers 6, 7, an 8 and those with initial registration dated June, July, and August are covered by this extension.

This extension is intended to make up for the two-week period that the LTO offices will be closed as well as to ensure orderly processing and avoid crowds at its offices. In it’s memo the extension is hoped "to ensure orderly processing of transactions and to consistently observe social distancing."

Previously, the LTO has already granted a 30-day extension to these vehicles. The new total is now up to 45 days.
