LTO issues memo extending vehicle registration validity

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a memo extending the validity of vehicle registrations up to December 31, 2020. This adds another 30 days to the current extension given.

The memo, which was signed by LTO assistant secretary, Edgar Galvante, grants extended validity of registration of motor vehicles with plate numbers ending in 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0 for the calendar year 2020.

Take note, however, that this is only applicable to vehicles with up to date registrations in 2019.

The said extension is issued in order to avoid congestion at the LTO Offices with the expected rush for renewal of expired and expiring vehicle registrations, as well as to ensure orderly processing of transactions, and stringent implementation of health and safety protocols to adhere with the guidelines set by the IATF-EID.

Vehicles with plate numbers ending in 6, 7 and 8

For vehicles with plate numbers ending in 6, 7 and 8, the LTO grants registration validity until October 30, 2020. Again, this extension is only granted to vehicles with up to date registrations for 2019-2020.

Vehicles with plate numbers ending in 9 and 0

For vehicles with plate numbers ending 9 and 0, the LTO grants registration validity until December 31, 2020. This means, if your vehicle has a plate number ending in 9 or 0, your vehicle or motorcycle’s registration is still valid up until the end of this year, provided that it was duly registered for 2019-2020.
