The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) was not happy about the reports that some motorcycle taxis (MC Taxi) have been overcharging commuters.

LTFRB chairman and former LTO chief, Teofilo Guadiz III, said such violations within the public transportation system would not be tolerated. “The fare matrix was crafted to ensure that the fares charged by all public transport operators from commuters regardless of vehicle type are fair and equitable,” Guadiz, who also heads the Motorcycle Taxi – Technical Working Group, said.

The MC Taxi-TWG is the authorized body that has full jurisdiction over MC taxis.

The LTFRB also added that they will call on the MC Taxi-TWG to start an investigation into these allegations. “We reiterate that this practice of overcharging has no place in our public transportation system. We will not allow it,” Guadiz added
