To be named as the Lotus C-01

The iconic car manufacturer Lotus is set to venture into the motorcycle business by establishing Lotus Motorcycles. It is currently tasked to design and build the brand's first motorcycle that will be named as the Lotus C-01. The future Lotus motorcycle is classified by the manufacturer as a hyper bike as it will be fitted with a 200 hp engine and several other racing technologies.

The future Lotus C-01 will be penned by a powerhouse team that consists of Kodewa, a company that has a lot of knowledge in the motorsport racing industry and is responsible for building the Lotus T128 LMP2 race car; the German consultancy Holzer Group, and futuristic automotive designer Daniel Simon who's a former designer for Bugatti Automobiles and is widely known for designing the 'Lightcycle' in the movie Tron: Legacy as well as the 'Bubbleship' used in the recently launched movie Oblivion. The group was tasked to create a motorcycle that will reflect a combination of lifestyle, design and high end technology.

The Lotus C-01 will be manufactured using several lightweight materials like carbon, titanium and aerospace quality steel which will be produced by the Holzer Group.

Daniel Simon is known for his clean and holistic concepts. The designer says: "With the Lotus C-01, we have only one ambition: to create a unique state-of-the-art machine that carries its brutal forces with elegance and style, a high-tech monster in a tailored suit. Lotus is a glamorous name with a rich history, and the C-01 celebrates it proudly: the shapes of the marvelous Lotus 49 were a main inspiration, and all color schemes pay homage to iconic Lotus racing liveries, such as the dashing black and gold. The intersection of past and future never fails to fascinate, and so does the unique idea of the C-01.” explains Daniel Simon.
