2023 KTM 390 Adventure updated with off-road-spec wire wheels

3 years ago, KTM made headlines in the adventure motorcycle scene here in the country as they launched the 390 Adventure.

The 390 Adventure, is a potent and capable pocket adventure bike thanks to its sharing many of its components with the Duke 390. The best part is that the 390 Adventure is an adventure bike that won’t break your bank account.

Unfortunately, the 390 Adventure is not without flaws and KTM’s choice of alloy wheels over wire (spokes) wheels make it as the bike’s Achilles’ heel, especially in the rougher sections of an off-beaten path.

KTM has heard these riders and for the 2023 model year (MY) 390 Adventure, wire wheels will be a standard feature. The bike now has tough and light black anodized aluminum spoked rims (19” front and 17” rear) so even the hardest of bumps and stones will not bring a journey to a swift halt. The 2023 KTM 390 Adventure warranted this upgrade considering the strengths of the rest of the motorcycle, and to emphasize that ‘adventure’ really can be part of the daily routine.

The 390 Adventure is still powered by a compact 4-stroke 373cc single-cylinder engine that uses twin overhead camshafts, four values, a balancer shaft, and electronic FI for smooth and uninterrupted momentum to the beat of 44 Ps and 37 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. Two catalytic converters ensure the system breathes within Euro5 emission targets while the 14.4-liter fuel tank's new vapor design also boosts the eco-friendliness of this particular KTM Adventure.

Other features include ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, cornering ABS, OFFROAD mode (more rear wheel slip) and linked OFFROAD ABS (disengaged on the rear, reduced on the front) are feathered by the 46mm throttle body and the slipper clutch while being administered through the 5” color TFT and intuitive handlebar switch.
