KTM and MV Agusta enter into a strategic partnership

MV Agusta – one of Italy’s iconic and exclusive motorcycle brands – has entered into a strategic partnership with KTM’s parent company, Pierer Mobility (PM). Pierer Mobility is also the parent company of Husqvarna, GASGAS, WP Suspension, and Felt Bicycles.

On the agreement, KTM’s role will help MV Agusta in its supply chain management by taking over the Varese-based company’s purchasing department. This takeover is seen as a great step in improving MV Agusta’s component acquisition from common suppliers and will help in reducing production costs.

Additionally, components that are common in KTM motorcycles like the WP Suspension systems, could also end up in future MV Agusta models. That means future component interchangeability between these two brands might be possible.

Another role that KTM will take on this strategic partnership is that it will integrate MV Agusta into its vast global dealer network. That means, future MV Agusta models will be present in select KTM showrooms worldwide, in addition, to stand-alone MV Agusta showrooms.

What will be MV Agusta’s role in this strategic partnership? Well, MV Agusta will allow PM to acquire a 25.1% stake in the company’s stock by way of a capital increase.

Will we be seeing future MV Agusta models packed with KTM’s LC8  engines? Or will it be future KTM models with 800cc MV Agusta engines? Whatever it is, the future looks bright for MV Agusta.
