Teaser from Suzuki PH hints at new dual-sport model

Suzuki Motorcycles Philippines, through their official social media page, has just published a teaser that hints of their possible entry into the dual-sport market here in the country.

“A Raider for your adventures,” teases the post, hinting that the new dual-sport (for on-road and some off-road) motorcycle that they'll be offering soon might bear the Raider badge when it lands here in the Philippines.

Though no further information was revealed, some of the local Suzuki fans and enthusiasts commented that the upcoming bike may in fact be the Haojue NK 150 currently offered in China, which is also the DR 150 offered in some South American Markets.

If that is the case, this upcoming bike from Suzuki will be powered by a four-stroke, 149 cc single-cylinder EFI engine with overhead cam (OHC). It produces 12.3 Ps @ 7,500 rpm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The frame will be made of standard tubular steel, while the front forks will be standard telescopic. Similar to Honda's XR150L, the Suzuki DR 150 has 19-inch wire wheel for the front and 17-inch wire wheel for the rear. A front disc brake comes standard while the rear has drum brakes. The claimed fuel capacity is 12.5 liters.

These are all speculations, though. When we contacted our friends from Suzuki, they just shared with us that the new bike was “designed for the Philippine roads, built for the Filipinos.”

So, will it be the DR 150 or a completely new bike designed solely for the Philippines? Whatever it is, this one got us excited.
